Keeping your smile whole and healthy is always the top priority at La Plata Dental. We know that it’s easier and better for our patients’ oral health to prevent damage to teeth rather than repair it after the fact. We encourage regular appointments at least two times each year, so we can screen for common warning signs of oral health concerns, provide professional teeth cleanings, and make recommendations for a customized ongoing treatment plan. Call our friendly La Plata dental team to find out more and schedule an appointment today.
The first step down the path to a lifetime of healthy smiles is keeping up with your regular dental checkups and teeth cleanings. These twice a year appointments give our team the opportunity to examine your smile, and provide early intervention when necessary to ensure conservative treatment options. During these checkups, we capture diagnostic radiographs (x-rays) and carefully examine the smile. We’re screening for early warning signs of oral health concerns like tooth decay, gum disease, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism), and oral cancer. One of our skilled hygienists will carefully remove any plaque and tartar buildup from the hard to access parts of teeth. They will also make recommendations to help you maximize the benefit of your at-home oral health routine. The most important aspect of every checkup is your consultation with one of our knowledgeable dentists. We’ll go through our findings with you, explain treatment options, and help you create a personalized oral health care plan.
We are happy to treat patients of all ages and stages of dental development in our La Plata dentistry practice. Our dental team puts their years of experience to use making dental care a safe, comfortable experience for our young patients. We work hard to ensure children learn to love visiting the dentist and caring for their smiles. For maximum convenience, we can even schedule a block of appointments to see the whole family on the same day.
As you may infer from the name, dental sealants seal out plaque and bacteria that might cause tooth decay. We can place sealants during any six month dental checkup. We simply paint a layer of liquid sealant onto teeth. It fills in the small pits and grooves in the surfaces of teeth, and then, a curing light is applied to harden the material. Once in place, dental sealants are completely clear, and they remain in place protecting teeth for years.
